Social media is all about socializing, and with advertising gurus swearing by social networking sites these days it is here to stay. So while it gives us a great opportunity to connect with new people all the time, Social Media Marketing is a boon to innovative marketing. Not only for selling your products or services but all to listen to your customer, improve and innovate as per their needs.

Here is a compilation of 11 tips from the learning we had from our various SMM experiences.

  1. It is important to identify & state the objectives that you are looking at before deciding on a social media strategy.
  2. Three things to keep in mind while building a social media campaign: Platforms, Content and interactions.
  3. To get a buzz going around a product, locate & target its passion community online, then market the product through them.
  4. Content is King: Make sure that your social media campaign’s content is not offensive, biased or easily misinterpreted.
  5. Put effort into making the overall social media campaign’s experience fun, engaging and proactive.
  6. Dont go on blowing your own trumpet. Listen first.
  7. Dont try to sell. Listen, Learn and Innovate.
  8. Try to be continuously involved in conversations, posts, chats, forums taking place regarding your product/service/campaign.
  9. Combining on-line & off-line experiences can bring great value & more loyal consumers to your products / services.

10.  Regularly measure the depth of your social media campaign’s fulfillment of goals & returns. ROI is what your client is interested in.

11.  Social media is all about influencing and not controlling.
