People have now started to feel that Search Engine Optimization or SEO is overrated as compared to Social Media Marketing. This however is not true SEO has its own importance in a plethora of online marketing tools. The first place a person looks for information on products or services is a search engine. Be it on his computer or mobile Google or Bing or Yahoo Search is the first place s/he will look for information reviews, blogs etc.

Many will argue that Twitter is the new search engine. Here are a few pointers which you can use as a SEO check list for your content and on page content optimization:

  • The content description in the source code of your website should not be more than 160 characters.
  • Use appropriate keywords in the meta tags.
  • The keyword density in the content should be once every 150 words. Strictly abstain from overdoing it.
  • Make sure you have at least one link per 150 words in the content. This can be utilized to tag relevant blog posts and other links which you have posted earlier.
  • If it’s a blog post make sure that it is under a relevant category with proper tags.
  • Try and optimize the heading and the URL of the page suitably.

All this have to be simultaneously done with backlinking, link submissions, publicizing your website, making the user share the website through various channels etc. All these combined will help improve the page rank of your website and your SEO efforts will then show desired result.
